Greetings! My name is Katy Larson. I will be taking over as the Bridge Point Elementary Librarian this school year. I graduated in May with my Masters in Library Science from Texas Woman's University, and I am so excited to begin my next chapter in education with BPE. My background in teaching includes 6 years as a middle school dyslexia interventionist (I am a certified Wilson Reading Practitioner), 2 years as a middle school special education teacher, and 1 year as an elementary dyslexia interventionist. I completed my library practicum at Austin High School and Menchaca Elementary this spring, and passed my school librarian certification test soon after. I am the proud momma to two awesome kiddos (in fact my son will be joining me at BPE; my daughter is attending a magnet program in AISD); I have been married for 12 years; I love to read (obvi!), travel, bake, watch movies, and laugh until I cry! I decided to become a librarian because I am passionate about reading and literacy- a loud and proud book nerd! I love books, and get excited to share that love with everyone, but especially my students! This year my goals for the library program are to promote reading through collaboration with teachers, maker spaces (getting crafty!), digital integration, author visits, reading incentive programs, and sharing my love of reading, and promoting books, to everyone that comes through the library.
Here's to 2018-19! It is going to be an awesome year! |
